Cost Sharing Methods

When governments want to save money by sharing services or buying from each other, we help design these arrangements and set fair prices for them. Also, as circumstances change and existing agreements no longer apply, Fiscal Choice can help analyze the effectiveness of current service levels and cost sharing methodologies to determine which changes may be appropriate. Some examples of our work include:

Our staff has helped several counties develop contract rates for Sheriff patrol services to municipalities, as well as for animal control facilities, chargebacks and facility construction.

We have helped review the methodologies for a wide range of clients including special purpose districts and enterprise funds such as airports, water and sewer operations, and fleet operations.

We reworked a land use agreement between a large Midwestern county and a regional medical center to reflect changes in the center’s occupants and services. Recommendations involved the development of a long-range strategy to optimize the overall use of the asset. Our staff helped a large city negotiate a payment from a waste management firm in exchange for extending the closure date of a landfill.
